About UsInstitute of Social Service (ISS-Jeevandhara), Kolad, has been working for Katkari tribal development in Roha Taluka, Raigad District, since 1992. It supports 36 villages across 15 Gram Panchayats, reaching 4,500 tribals. The Katkari, classified as a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group, traditionally made Katha (Catechu) and now work as agricultural laborers, firewood sellers, and engage in fishing, coal making, and brick manufacturing. They face challenges like low literacy, poor health, and limited livelihood opportunities.
ISS focuses on education, women's empowerment through Self-Help Groups, traditional medicine, primary healthcare, food security, employment generation, youth development, environmental care, and strengthening local self-governance.
